2.8.6.4: Track and Monitor Port Vessel Traffic

'This process shall provide the capability to receive, process, maintain, and distribute vessel operational state information. The information managed by this process shall include vessel location, speed, estimated time of arrival, and motion data. This process shall support real-time vessel tracking using information provided by the vessels using their automatic identification system (AIS) tracking interfaces or through their ocean carriers system. For AIS-providing ships, this process shall receive broadcast data such as the Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI), unique ship identifier, Position (lat/long), Course & speed, Vessel type & dimensions, along with destination & draught (if entered by crew). This process shall provide vessel status information to terminals, cargo owners, and other port stakeholders. This process shall enable visualization and operational coordination based on vessel movement and arrival information. This process supports ingestion of vessel operational reporting information from vessel systems and vessel traffic service systems to maintain accurate situational awareness. This process shall handle incoming requests for the availability of a berth at a port facility from Ocean Carrier systems or directly from Vessels. This process shall forward such requests for berthing to the appropriate intermodal terminal facility. Upon receipt of the berthing information this process shall inform the requesting ocean carrier and/or vessel. This process shall supply the Port Information Data store with a record of the berth requests and assignments as they come in.
