6.7.3.5: Determine Roadside Emergent Traffic Regulations

This process shall receive configuration and information on current and emergent traffic rules from the Manage Traffic Rules process in order to determine what appropriate changes there may be to the rules governing movement of traffic based on time or situation. This process will determine that a situation or time means that new or emergent rules need to be sent to surrounding vehicles and personal devices and will send the authorized message on to other roadside based processes for dissemination. This process shall also monitor data from field devices to determine status of the field devices that may affect the dissemination of traffic regulations or conditions that may warrant a change in a safe speed – reduced visibility, precipitation, etc. Based on the observed local conditions, this process shall adjust the emergent traffic regulations for dissemination to travelers and equipped vehicles. This process shall return status of the application to the Manage Traffic Rules and Regulations function.
